Jackson's Biography
Dr. Daniel Jackson is an anthropologist and
linguist. He is an expert in ancient cultures
and languages in addition to current ones;
he speaks over 20 languages including ancient
Egyptian. Jackson became a bit of a deity
to the people of Abydos, the planet he chose
to stay on during the original feature film.
Originally, he was contracted by the military
to decipher a mysterious hieroglyphic cartouche.
His subsequent translation of the cartouche
allowed the Stargate to be opened for the
first time. In addition to being the one to
translate the cartouche that allowed the Stargate
to open the first time heis also a part of
the SG-1 team, which includes Colonel Jack
O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), Major Samantha
Carter (Amanda Tapping), and Teal'c a Goa'uld
Jaffa (Christopher Judge).

is a Stargate you ask? A Stargate
is a ring of stone found in Egypt that
allows travel to other far distant planets.
A secret command sends out SG teams to
those planets to learn more about their
history and culture.
